In this post, I want to share with you my Charcoal Mask. This is a great beginner formula and is as simple as measure and mix. So let's get started! The ingredients that you will need are Kaolin clay, French clay, Calcium Carbonate, and Charcoal. If you do not have one of the clays you can substitute if for on that you do have. If you do not have Calcium Carbonate the you can substitute it with corn starch. I do not recommend swapping out the Charcoal as it would change the fundamentals of the mask. If you have dried botanicals that would go well with this mask you could totally add them. Method: weight out all the ingredients in a glass beaker and mix then until they are a uniform powder. Package in a cool dry place. Depending on the clay that you used will depend in the ratio of mask to water that will work. I have found that Kaolin needs very little water to get a thick paste. If you get it water thin then you will need to add a lot more clay. Once you mix water with the clay you need to use it right away. Clay's are hard to persevere because essentially it is dirt with is the perfect place for microbes to grow.
