Summer Cooling Mist

In the northern hemisphere it is really warming up. I wanted to formulating a nice refreshing and cooling mist.

For the refreshing aspect, I will include 10% aloe vera juice. It is also great at soothing the skin. For the cooling effect, I am going to include peppermint essential oil at 0.10%. Since this will be a mist product. I would need to include a solublizer. My go to is polysorbate 20 for essential oils and fragrance oils. For another humectant I am using propylene glycol as it is a non-greasy humectant. To preserve the formulation, I am going to use liquid germall plus.  

Formulation

Calculations:100-(10+5+1+0.10+0.50+0.01)=83.39 
Method:

1. Sanitize all your equipment, containers, and workspace.
2. Gather all your ingredients and ensure that your notebook is set up.
3. You can measure all your ingredients in separate glass beakers/glass prep cups or proceed to step 4.
4. In a glass beaker, add all your phase A ingredients. If you are not comfortable doing this, you can weigh the ingredients in separate beaker/glass prep cups. That way, you can take away or add more if you are not perfectly accurate.
5. In a separate beaker, add phase B.
6. Stirring gently, add phase B into A until homogeneous. If mixture turn milky, stop the additions and continue to stir. Once clear again then continue to add while mixing.
7. Then you are done. You may have some bubbles, which will settle out in a day.
8. Be sure to package and label. ​

Substitutions and Alterations:
substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.
