As a blogger and chemistry major, I want to set realistic expectations for cosmetic formulations. Formulations vary in complexity, ranging from a simple cuticle oil to creating a buffer for a cosmetic formulation. This is something to consider when trying to find your own formulas or following those of others.

Since getting a new meter, I wanted to update my methods for checking and adjusting pH to accommodate using different meters or pH strips. I want to clarify that pH strips are not my recommended method for adjusting pH levels in businesses. However, I do realize that pH meters are quite expensive. I see people either using the wrong pH strips or mixing the methods. I will share how to get the best results with what you have.

After you find a reference formula, the next step you would want to take is adding more ingredients. Maybe substitute ingredients for what you have. In this post, I will tell you how to do that.
