Free Member-to-Member Discussion
My other community page has a horrible comment processer. I made this post where you can ask me and other people who have access to the blog. I will replace the link and link it on the side bar.
Squalane Gel Moisturizer
In this post, I am going to be sharing with you a simple gel moisturizer formula. That you can use as a base formula and customize to your liking. This post is going to be a free post.
Full disclosure: the Ellam Pazchai Light Green Water Soluble Powder, Guar Gum, and Squalane were sent to me by Essential Wholesale and Labs. I made this formulation to work with the ingredients.
Altering the Basic Body Scrub
This is going to be a continuation of the Basic Body Scrub Formulation. In this post I am going to be adding more ingredients to make the formulation more professional. In addition, I want you encourage you to play around with the formulation.
Hair Spray Formulation
I was also able to fix an issue with Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). PVP is a brittle film former. It is why it can turn white and flak off which is not a good look. By adding more flexible film formers, I was able to make a formulation that does not flake.
Some preservatives can be deactivated by PVP [1], so be sure to check with your supplier.
Gum Arabic is the other film former in this formulation. At 1% gum Arabic does not contribute to the viscosity. You would thing that was not the case but, In my tests, it needed 30% to contribute to thickening. This was one of the formulation challenges. As I was trying to not make the formulation too thick. If it was too thick then it would spray in a stream which is not desirable. However, you want enough styling agents that you get the hold that you want. For actives I have included aloe vera and butylene glycol. I have read that butylene glycol can help with film-formation. We also need it as a solvent for the preservative Euxyl PE9010. This is reflected in the method as well. Let's see the formulation.
Comparing Coco Betaine, Cocomidopropyl Betaine, and Cocomidopropyl Hydroxysultaine: An Experiment
In this post, I am going to be testing three different amphoteric surfactants to see the properties that they have. These are great experiments to do to better understand your ingredients. The three surfactant I will be testing are Coco Betaine, Cocomidopropyl Betaine, and Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine
Deodorant Removal Balm
I do not know about anyone else, but I find that most body washes just do not remove deodorant very well. So I thought that I could make my own product. This is essentially going to be a cleaning balm formulation
Organic Chemistry First Semester Resources
In this post, I will share my organic chemistry resource for the first semester of organic chemistry.
Chem Box 2
In this post, I am going to sharing with you what I got in my Chem box 2.
This post is not sponsored. I was sent this box for free. In addition to this post, I will be doing ingredient guides for all of them.
Naturally Compliant Micellar Water
In this post, we are going to be making natural micellar water. I got this idea from the blog Point of Interest run by Susan (Link). Just like her, I do not like caprylyl/capryl glucoside very much as it is very sticky. However, she mentioned that at 2% and below, you can avoid the stickiness and create a micellar water. So I know that I wanted to try it out.
Glycolic Acid Face Mask
This formulation was voted on Instagram. So thank you to those that participated, I appreciate it. A huge disclaimer, formulating with acids is not for beginners. This requires that you have good knowledge on acids and bases, a pH meter, and know how to handle them safely.
