How to Avoid Areated Emulsions
In this post, I am going to be sharing my tips to avoid aerated emulsions.
First let's talk about why you do not want an aerated emulsion in the first place. I am also talking about products you do not want aerated emulsions. There are products you may want it. In general, you do not want to have a lot of extra air. It is an oxidant. Air is a mixture of gasses, it may decrease the pH. Gases can be dissolved in aqueous (water-based) solutions.
Key Equations for General Chemistry
I was inspired by @thebumbelingbiochemist on Instagram. She has posted free resources for people who want to learn biochemistry. I took the time to make a general chemistry version of all the equations you will encounter in a general chemistry course.
Current Body Wash Formulation (Free Formulation)
I am in need of a daily body want that I can use. Yes, I know that you need to wash your body every day. My other body wash has acids in it to make it exfoliating. I don’t want to over exfoliate so I needed another body wash. Disclaimer: the SLES and the Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate were gifted to me by Essential Labs. They are not sponsoring or paying my to post.
Behentrimonium Chloride Ingredient Guide
Let's meet a new ingredient Behentrimonium chloride (BTC). For full disclosure, the ingredient was sent to me for free from Crafting Cosmetics in exchange for a review. I have purchased from them before. I have to say, I am impressed with Crafting Cosmetics. Shipping is quite fast and the best price that I have seen. Their ingredients are not expensive and it is not a massive investment of money when you just want to see if you even like an ingredient. It is also a cosmetic chemist-owned brand. I appreciate all the SDS and certificate of analysis. They are a US based supplier. Just to clear this up before anyone gets confused. The owner and I both have the same first name. I do not own Crafting Cosmetic.
Lotion Making Tutorial
In this post, I will show you how to make the natural body lotion I shared in this post link.
Free Natural & Stable Body Lotion
In this post, I will share how to formulate a STABLE natural body lotion. I will include some percentages which you can customize. Lotions, at their core, are three different ingredients—water, oil, and emulsifier. As you know, water and oil do not mix. They need something to aid in dispersing one into another. The emulsifier we will use today is Ritamulse SCG (INCI: Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteryl Alcohol, and Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate). This emulsifier is a complete emulsifier that can be used in a pH range of 5-7.5. The max oil phase you can have is 25%. It is suggested usage rate is 2-10%. I have found from doing real-time stability testing that It should be 6% or greater. In this formulation, I am going to be using 6%.
Summer Cooling Mist
In the northern hemisphere it is really warming up. I wanted to formulating a nice refreshing and cooling mist.
Aloe Vera Gel (Free Formulation)
With summer approaching, I wanted to share my aloe gel formulation. I did make this formulation natural. I was also able to use a natural green extract for the color, Ellam Pazchai Light Green Water Soluble Powder. For full disclosure, the Ellam Pazchai Light Green Water Soluble Powder (not an affiliate link) was sent to me for free from Essential Whole Sale and Labs. This formulation is quite basic. You can alter it to whatever you have. Note that with that, your choice needs to be able to handle electrolytes.
